May 2009 - CRAC-A-JAC's new look
Edwin Delaat bought Crac-A-Jac in 2008 shortly after passing his Boatmasters at the age of 12. For some years Edwin would keep on saying "that is the boat I want to buy" and got laughed at, Crac-A-Jac wasn't even up for sale. Edwin has been wheeling and dealing in secondhand boatbits and scrap metal to make things happen. After nearly three years saving every cent what came his way did he manage to buy Crac-A-Jac.
Crac-A-Jac had been neglected and was in the need of lots of TLC. Edwin spent endless hours on his new treasure during the summer months whilst not crewing on other yachts. He managed to broker funding in the form of sponsorship and likes to thank his sponsors, as they know who they are.
In 2009 and 2010 he skippered his own keeler "Crac-A-Jac" in the Farr 727 National Championships, SSANZ B&G SIMRAD Two Handed Triple Series 2009, HSBC Premier Coastal Classic 2009 and the Auckland Anniversary Regatta 2010
